Hi there, Does anyone have an example of a safety procedure/protocol for operating a propane poofer that you could share a copy of? I already have the NFPA documents, but am looking for a poofer specific safety doc. Thanks!

Re: Safety SOP for Poofer (Standard Operating procedure)
Mon, August 10, 2009 - 8:35 AMOn a mutant vehicle (somewhat.) It will be on a 4-wheel bicycle 'quadracycle.'
2x17lb lpg tanks as fuel, 1x17lb lpg tank (repurposed) as accumulator, 10' exit plumbing for a net height of 15' minimum flame-to-ground clearance.
I started working on the SOP already, but want to make sure I got al the important points covered.
Thanks! -

Re: Safety SOP for Poofer (Standard Operating procedure)
Tue, August 11, 2009 - 12:42 AMMake sure all your hoses are machined, no hose clamps anywhere.
your valve must be gas rated(duh)
Not a single piece of galvanized steel anywhere, just brass and black pipe is the way to go, unless you are using higher grade steels.
Appropriate fire extinguisher and first aid kit on board.
........I can't think of anything else, I am pretty sure thats it, good luck.
your MV is already registered, right ?, if not then the DMVs guidelines aren't going to matter, and I once again wish you good luck . -

Re: Safety SOP for Poofer (Standard Operating procedure)
Tue, August 11, 2009 - 12:07 PMUmm, I think you misunderstood the my post. I'm not asking how to build a device, I'm asking if anyone has any pre-written safety procedures.
The NFPA 160 required that we have emergency plans in the event of small/major leaks, etc. I'm asking for documents like this.
Example:
Step 1) Notify safety personel
Step 2) Secure safety perimiter
Step 3) Shut off fuel supply
ect. -

Re: Safety SOP for Poofer (Standard Operating procedure)
Tue, August 11, 2009 - 1:11 PMwell then, that question will have a different answer for each device, in regards to how it is setup and what is being used.
Heres mine.
1: put fire out
2:turn ball valve , shutting off the line to the accumulator
3: turn off valves on all tanks.
4:deal with any injuries on hand
5: find proper authorities to notify, if necessary.

Re: Safety SOP for Poofer (Standard Operating procedure)
Tue, August 11, 2009 - 8:53 PMYou could check with Department of Spontaneous Combustion. They had quad, and other peddle powered setups.
