Action Rentals in San Francisco (on Folsom near 12th) stocks refillable LPG tanks in a half-dozen different sizes. The laws of supply and demand result in the small tanks actually costing more than the common 20-pound 5-gallon size ($70 for a 4.25-pound 1-gallon tank, $75 for an 11-pound 2.5-gallon tank) but this price also includes purging and filling if you want that. (No discount for buying an empty cylinder, unfortunately.) Their minimum refill is only 1 gallon, so it's a good place to refill those small tanks, too. They also stock larger cylinders up to 60-pound or 100-pound capacity. I've seen some 11 pound tanks around, but the shape is too squat and wide for my application. I think the 5 and 10 pounders are a bit less than 10" in diameter, and that's what I'm looking for.
